Installation of the main pipe rack, phases 17 and 18, South Pars Gas Field Development
In 2008, Navrood was awarded a contract from IPMI to execute the foundations of the main pipe rack area (Area 7) in phases 17 & 18. Following its successful conclusion, Navrood entered another contract in 2009 with Hanmaek Heavy Industries — the fabricator of the gas plant’s steel structure pipe racks — for their installation. It involved all the major pipe racks
of the gas plant, both inside and outside the battery limit, including the mountainous terrain of the flare area.
Considering the tight schedule and the technical challenges ahead, Navrood utilized an experienced management and planning team, equipped with all required tools and machinery including heavy cranes of up to 80 tons, and as such was able to install the main structure in less than 6 months, setting a new national record.
Despite the hazardous nature of the work, due to the strict HSE procedures put in place from the very beginning, Navrood managed to complete the project without any major incidents.
